Dave McDonnell Group\u2019s debut album,\u00a0<em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/newatlantisrecords.bandcamp.com\/album\/the-dragon-and-the-griffin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the dragon and the griffin<\/a>,<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0is available on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/newatlantisrecords.bandcamp.com\/album\/the-dragon-and-the-griffin\"><strong>New Atlantis Records<\/strong><\/a>. Both of the studio albums have received critical praise nationally and overseas.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m also active as a Music Technology educator and computer music programmer, I\u2019ve presented on this in depth at the DePaul University School of Cinema and Interactive Media, for their\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5ECXj3Bzss4\">Visiting Artist Series<\/a><\/strong>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WR-TDans5TU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>T<em>rapped by<\/em><\/em>\u00a0<em>Polygons<\/em><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0for soprano saxophone, interactive computer and video was<em>\u00a0<\/em>premiered at the\u00a0<strong>SEAMUS 2015 National Conference<\/strong>. Just recently I premiered a new piece for computer at University of the Arts Philadelphia entitled\u00a0<em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/wake-up-a-bee\/parabolic-music-no-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Parabolic Music No. 1<\/a><\/strong>. \u00a0<strong>Ancient Bones of the Cosmic Gods<\/strong><\/em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>(below) is a new composition for the Temple New Music Ensemble and was premiered in spring 2021.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"New Music Ensemble Spring 2021 Concert\" width=\"625\" height=\"352\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-oG9d2-0Alo?start=2483&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m a member of the Chicago-based jazz unit\u00a0<strong>Herculaneum\u00a0<\/strong>as well as the currently hibernating\u00a0synth-rock trio <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/6034885\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Michael Columbia<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>(both with drummer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dylanryanmusic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dylan Ryan<\/a>).\u00a0As <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Diminisher\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the diminisher<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>I was a founding member of the &#8220;post-everything&#8221; trio <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bablicon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>bablicon<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(along with Jeremy Barnes and Griffin Rodriguez) and pursued a solo project which yielded the album <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/pitchfork.com\/reviews\/albums\/9947-imaginary-volcano\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Imaginary Volcano<\/a>. <\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>As a sideman I&#8217;ve been involved with <strong>Icy Demons<\/strong>, <strong>Need New Body<\/strong> and <strong>Orso.\u00a0<\/strong>I also have recorded and performed with members of the Elephant 6 collective, most notably on <em><strong>Major Organ and the Adding Machine<\/strong> <\/em> and <strong>The Circulatory System<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong><em>Signal Morning<\/em><\/strong>. \u00a0Long, long ago in 1999, I played trombone and saxophone in <strong>The Olivia Tremor Control<\/strong>&#8216;s touring band.
